An experience we will never forget
March 24, 2012

Bac Ha is no doubt on the beaten track. Despite the increasing influx of tourists, however, Bac Ha with its colorful ethnic market is still a magnet of local appeal.

Detailed program

Note: This tour only departs on Sundays

Sapa – Bac Ha market – Sapa (L)
Our guide and driver will pick you up at hotel in Sapa around 08:00am for departing to Bac Ha market (110km). This is the biggest local ethnic fair, which holds every Sunday. Tribal people from surrounding villages flock to there to exchange their products. Most still use horses to carry their loads, so they have to depart very early to get there in time.
If you come to Sapa in a spring weekend, you may frequently meet locals in their colorful costumes heading down to the markets. For youngsters, this is a wonderful chance to travel around and to find a darling. Thus, spring in Sapa, especially around Tet Holiday (late January to early February), may be very cold but not any gloomy. This is the flirting, mating and wedding season. The nature is also vibrant with red and white blossoms blooming everywhere. These spectacular sceneries can be found nowhere.
After lunch, leave the colourful market behind, we follow a zigzag road along the mountain to visit Ban Pho 1 and Ban Pho 2 villages - inhabited by Flower H'mong people. Stop at some local house to see how they make corn wine - a special wine Bac Ha is renowned for. Taste some and you will truly feel its local flavor. Transfer to Sapa in late afternoon.
